Social Justice Group

The Social Justice Group is responsible for co-ordinating Trinity’s response to issues affecting our local community, our country and our world.  We meet regularly to consider, discuss and pray about these issues, and make recommendations to the Church Meeting about issues for action and financial support.

Our Guiding Principles

Our guiding principles for planning, action and funding are based on Christian Aid’s development guidelines

Among the projects we support on an ongoing basis are:-

Our Local Community

  • Leek and District Foodbank
  • ASHA – a local charity supporting asylum-seekers and refugees in North Staffordshire
  • Humankind – Staffordshire Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS) supporting people recovering from drugs or alcohol issues
  • Festival appeals – supporting local charities at Christmas and Easter
  • Totally Locally Leek – supporting the local economy
  • @21 Leek Town Centre Youth Project – supporting young people

Our Country

  • Action for Children – protecting and supporting children and young people
  • MHA – providing care and wellbeing for older people in the UK

Our World

  • Christian Aid
  • Eco Church
  • Fairtrade
  • Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Special Appeals
  • Festival Appeals – supporting national and international charities at Easter, Harvest and Christmas
  • One World Week
  • Using LOAF principles for sustainable food where possible (Locally produced; Organically grown; Animal friendly; Fairly traded)
